2017 is an exciting year for Lions Clubs International, as it is our Centenary year.

Lions are ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Locals who volunteer their time to help others and support good causes in their communities all across the world.

Our local Ashford Lions Club started in 2014, with a small group of dedicated members.  It continues to grow ever since and we are now looking to become a chartered Centenary Club.

Over the last year we have:

· Run Santa’s Sleigh taking Santa around town for the children and families to see and take pictures

· Run the Easter Egg Raffle in many of our pubs

· Created a Social Media Easter Egg Hunt, which featured some of Ashford’s sweets spots

· Raised funds at local charity events with our ‘Beer Slide’

· Organized ‘It’s a Knockout’, a fun event where players compete in joyous games run in heats for the Winner’s trophy, the ‘Spirit of Endeavor’, and the ‘Best Joker’ prizes

· Taken part in national initiatives, such as ‘Message in a Bottle’ and the recycling of old spectacles

· With our Lion friends from neighbouring clubs we built and participated with a pontoon float at the Venetian Fete in Hythe

Over the last year YOUR Ashford Lions Club has made donations to the following local organisations:

· Pilgrims Hospices

· Home-Start

· Rainbow Club Kennington

· Survivors of Bereavement By Suicide SOBS

· Willesborough Windmill Trust

· Sk8Side

· Ashford Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity

· Carer’s Support

· Kent Wing Air Cadets

· Ashford Rangers
