On Friday 15 December 2017, Santa has been visiting the neighbourhood around Washford Farm road with the Ashford Lions. His elves and helpers were collecting in support of our local charities and other Lions charitable causes.
On Wednesday 13 December 2017, Santa was happy to have the support of Sk8Side on his route around South of Brookfield Road. The team of Sk8side CIC run a range of programmes for young people age 13-19 (up to 25 for those with disabilities) which provide ‘things to do’. They also support with a wide range of issues and concerns which can affect young people and which hinder their transition into adult life. This can include information on housing, careers, sexual health, drug and alcohol and much, much more.
On Tuesday 12 December 2017, Santa visited the Bybrook neighbourhood of our town. The Ashford Lions and Sands have been his elves and helpers on this route. Sands exists to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, to improve the bereavement care received by parents and families, and to influence policy makers and promote research to reduce the number of babies dying.
On Sunday 10 December 2017, Santa visited Tritton Fields in Kennington. Santa had the support of Ashford Lions and Find a Voice. Find A Voice supports children and adults who have a severe speech, language or communication difficulty, and who may require some form of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) support. This can include signing, symbols or a communication aid.
For Thursday 07 December, Santa took his Sleigh around Bond Rd, Jemmett Rd, and Torrington Road in the evening. Santa was fortunate to have the support of the Ashford Lions and Ashford Mediation. Ashford Mediation Service has been in existence since 1997 and is a free mediation service to residents of the Borough of Ashford who are experiencing conflict or difficulty with others.
On Wednesday 06 December 2017, Santa on his Sleigh has been visiting Kennington Lees in the evening. His elves and helpers were collecting for the Ashford Lions in support of our local charities and other Lions charitable causes. Santa is very happy to see all the happy comments and posts on our social media site.
On Friday 05 December 2017 Santa on his Sleigh visited South Willesborough in the evening. Santa had the support of the Ashford Lions, Sk8Side, and the Hothfield Youth Group.
Friday 01 December 2017 Santa on his Sleigh has been around the Stanhope Ring Road in the evening. Santa had the support of Uprising Youth And Community. Uprising seeks to inspire hope in local young people and families. They engage, build, invest in, and commit to local communities in Ashford.
Ashford Lions were proud to enrol three new members to the team on Tuesday.
Lions are locals, who dedicate time and ideas to better and in support of their local community. You might have seen our Santa Sleigh during Christmas, which is always a big hit with the families and children.
We are set to have an exciting year due to the 100th anniversary of Lions Clubs International. Our ambition over the next few months is to grow membership and to become a centenary charter club!
